Right up high on top of a showcase, you can find the skeleton of this so-called mountain lion, one of Australia's now extinct megafauna.
Tarbosaurus bataar
So many teeth, such little arms.
Discovered in Mongolia, the skeleton of this cousin of Tyrannasaurus rex was exhibited at the museum as part of the Great Russian Dinosaurs exhibition at Museums Victoria in 1993, and a cast was made before it returned home.
Argyle Pink Jubilee Diamond
Pretty in pink, this rare gem took one billion years to form.
The rare and largest of pink diamonds found in Western Australia's Argyle diamond mine in 2012.
Kauri Pine segment
A huge piece of very very old Pine.
The cross section of this Kauri Pine from the Atherton Tablelands in Queensland was aged at 619 years at the time of felling in 1939, and would have been close to 50 metres in height.

Cobb and Co Coach
19th century people and mail delivery.
Built in Geelong around 1880, this coach serviced the Cobb and Co coach transport routes through rural areas, and is believed to be the very last coach to have operated in Victoria. It was pulled by 4 or 5 horses and carried up to 17 passengers along with mail and luggage.

Satin Bowerbird

One of many birds in the Forest Gallery, the male Satin Bowerbird has blue-black feathers, whereas the females have olive green. Males build bowers on the ground to attract females and decorate them with blue items such as flowers, feathers, bottle tops and berries.
