Engineering Studies

VCE VET Engineering Studies students develop, plan and manufacture functional engineering products. This allows them to demonstrate a range of engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge, including an understanding of engineering materials and components, production of engineering drawings, use of hand and power tools, fabrication techniques, machining processes and engineering computations.

Three Axis Robotic Arm

Aluminium, stainless steel, PLA+

My design brief focused on occupational health and safety (OH&S). The robotic arm I have created would allow a human user to perform tasks from a safe distance in hazardous environments, such as the handling of toxic waste or highly volatile substances. The use of aluminium, PLA+ and stainless steel all add chemical resistance to the robot, and all waterproof electronics ensure that operations can be performed both indoors and outdoors.
