NEW FROM JULY 2025!
In this science and geography curriculum-aligned program, students in Years 9 and 10 explore global biomes through digital and -in-exhibition immersive experiences. They unpack the dynamics of climate change and the human activities that cause it.
Facilitated by a museum educator, students will explore the deep connections people have with the environment and leave hopeful in our capacity for change for a sustainable future.
Students will experience
- Experience a unique immersive experience exploring ecosystems of Victoria.
- Visit Melbourne Museum’s newest exhibition (opening mid-2025)
- Explore the rich diversity of life across planet earth
- Exploring the latest research and approaches on mitigating human impacts across biomes of the world
Students will learn
- About the interactions of atmospheric gases and the carbon cycle in human-induced climate change
- How different climactic regions across the globe support distinctive biomes, with differing plant and animal life
- That the wide variety of environments on earth are all impacted differently by human activity
- How scientific research has revealed mind-blowing interactions on global and local scales, and is helping solve some of the greatest challenges we face.
Students will be provided
- Pre and post visit resources
- In-exhibition tool to allow in-depth exploration of classification

Victorian Curriculum links
Earth and space sciences: Levels 9 and 10
- The dynamics of global climate change can be modelled and explained by examining the interactions between greenhouse gas emissions and energy exchanges within and between Earth’s systems; mitigating human-induced climate change requires addressing various activities including power generation, deforestation, manufacturing, transportation, food production and resource consumption
VC2S10U11
Geography: Levels 9 and 10
- The distribution and characteristics of biomes as regions with distinctive climates, vegetation and biomass productivity, and the potential to produce food
VC2HG10K01 - Human-induced environmental changes and their impacts on the sustainability of places and environmental functions
VC2HG10K10 - the influence of people’s environmental worldviews on their support for environmental sustainability
