Museum Membership FAQS
Your Museum Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase or activation. Once your membership expires, you'll be invited to renew to continue enjoying your member benefits.
Your digital membership card will be emailed to you at the time of purchase and can also be downloaded when you log in to your account under "Your Orders".
A physical membership card will also be mailed to you and should arrive within four weeks.
Yes. Please present your membership card each time you visit any Museums Victoria venue. You may also be asked to provide photo identification.
You can access your digital membership card by logging in to your account and visiting "Your Orders". Alternatively, our staff can look up your membership details when you visit. You may be asked to present photo identification to verify your membership.

We strongly recommend pre-booking your museum entry, exhibition tickets and events, particularly during school holidays, weekends and other busy periods.
Yes. Household Memberships can include up to two adults and six children.
Children can be included on a Household Membership until they turn 17. Date of birth information helps us manage eligibility and membership records.
No. Memberships cannot be paused once activated, even if you plan to be away for an extended period.
No. Once a child turns 17, they are no longer eligible to be included on a Household Membership and will need to purchase their own membership.
Yes. A nanny or caregiver can be included as one of the two named adults on a Household Membership and must present photo identification when visiting.
They cannot be added to an Adult or Concession Membership.

Please note: If you renew two or more Adult or Premium Memberships together, the discounted price will be automatically applied at checkout.

The value of your Adult general admission tickets can be deducted from the cost of an eligible Museum Membership.
Simply present your Museum Membership card when visiting participating reciprocal museums interstate. Staff will advise you of any benefits available.
Gift membership FAQs
No. Due to privacy legislation, we are unable to confirm whether a person is currently a Museum Member.
You can purchase a physical gift pack online through the Museums Victoria Store website, or in person at the Melbourne Museum or Scienceworks stores.

The recipient has three years from the date of purchase to activate their gift membership. Once activated, the membership is valid for 12 months.
Enter your own details when purchasing the gift membership. The gift voucher will be emailed to you, and the recipient can activate it using the unique activation code provided.
Once activated, the recipient will receive their welcome pack and membership card at their nominated postal address. Membership is valid for 12 months from the activation date.
Unfortunately, payment by invoice is not available. Gift memberships must be paid for at the time of purchase and can be purchased online or from the Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks or Immigration Museum stores.
No. A gift membership does not begin when it is purchased. The membership starts when the recipient activates it.
You can activate your gift membership online using the unique activation code.
No. Gift memberships are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
