How do I purchase a Museum Membership?
Museum Memberships can be purchased online, if you are having any difficulties, you can call 13 11 02 and our Booking and Enquiries team can assist.
How much is a Museum Membership?
A household Museum Membership, consisting of two adults and up to four children, is $99. A single adult Museum Membership is $59, and a concession Museum Membership is $39. Additional children can be added to a household Museum Membership for $7, and to single adult or concession Museum Memberships for $17.
What information do I need to provide in order to purchase a Museum Membership?
Full names and birthdates of everyone who will be included on the Museum Membership, as well as a postal address, email address and contact phone number.
When will my Museum Membership start?
From the date of purchase.
How long will my Museum Membership last?
One year from the date of purchase.
When do I receive my Museum Membership card?
You will be emailed a temporary Museum Membership card at the time of purchase. This can be saved to your device or printed out and can be used for the duration of your Museum Membership. It can take up to four to six weeks for permanent cards to arrive in the post.
Do I need to bring my Museum Membership card with me each time I visit?
Yes. You will need to show your Museum Membership each time you visit any of our venues, along with photo identification.
What happens if I forgot to bring or lose my Museum Membership card?
We can look you up on our Museum Membership system with photo identification.
Do Museum Members receive discounted parking at Melbourne Museum?
Yes, Museum Members receive the discounted $14 daily flat-rate when parking the Melbourne Museum carpark. Scan your museum membership card (or your temporary membership PDF on your phone) on exit at the closest pay station.

What does my Museum Membership give me access to?
Free entry to Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks and Immigration Museum every day of the year. Discount to touring exhibitions, optional extras, café, IMAX, Museum Store and the Melbourne Museum car park.
How do I change my personal details (address, email, phone number etc.) on my Museum Membership?
This can be done by calling the Bookings & Enquiries Office on 13 11 02 or by emailing [email protected].
Do I need to make a pre-booking as a Museum Member?
It is strongly recommended that Museum Members pre-book their entry to our museums as well as tickets to surcharged exhibitions and the Children's Gallery, particularly during busy periods such as school holidays, public holidays and weekends.
Can I include my family members on my Museum Membership?
Yes. Household Museum Memberships can include two adults and up to four children. Additional children can be added to a household Museum Membership for $7, and to single adult or concession Museum Memberships for $17.
Why do I need to provide my children's birthdates on the Museum Membership?
Children up to the age of 17 years can be included on your household Museum Membership. After the age of 17, they are no longer eligible to be included as children on a household Museum Membership.
Can I pause my membership?
Memberships cannot be paused once they are active, even if you plan to be away from Victoria for an extended period.
My child has turned 17 years old. Can they still be included on my Museum Membership?
Unfortunately they cannot. If they still want to obtain a Museum Membership, they will need to purchase their own. An adult Museum Membership is $59 and a concession Museum Membership is $39.
Can I include my nanny/other caregivers on my Museum Membership?
Yes. They will need to be one of the two named adults on a household Museum Membership and provide photo identification each time they visit any of our museums. If you have an adult or concession Museum Membership, unfortunately the nanny/other caregiver cannot be included on this Museum Membership and will need to purchase their own.
How can I renew my Museum Membership?
This can be done online by entering the unique 14-digit Museum Membership number along with the surname of the primary adult and the expiry date.
I lost my Museum Membership card. How can I obtain a new Museum Membership card?
This can be done by calling the Bookings & Enquiries Office on 13 11 02. Please note that a $5 replacement card fee applies and is payable via credit card.
I bought general tickets to the museum. Can I use these to get a discount on a Museum Membership?
Yes. You will need to provide the booking reference number and/or receipt of your purchase within seven days to the Museums Victoria Bookings & Enquiries Office by either calling 13 11 02 or emailing [email protected].
The cost of general admission will then be taken off the total cost of a household or single adult Museum Membership.
How can I obtain discount at reciprocal museums interstate?
Please show your Museum Membership card to the staff at reciprocal museums interstate.
