Southern Sky Astrophotography: The David Malin Awards 2023 showcases the best and most breathtaking night-sky photography of the past two years – now on exhibition at Scienceworks.

The Awards encourage photographers to utilize their vision, creativity, and expertise in capturing captivating and exquisite sky images. Featuring eight distinct award categories and an additional honour for the cover of the Australasian Sky Guide from the Powerhouse Museum, overseen by the Sydney Observatory, this exhibition is another chapter in the observatory's rich tradition of excellence in astrophotography.

Resident government astronomer Henry Chamberlain Russell began photographing the sky from Sydney Observatory in the early 1870s and his photographs of the Magellanic Clouds received international acclaim.
