There’s no better way to prep for an excursion than to experience it yourself! Join this teacher professional learning session and build your next school excursion. Bring your family or friends along to engineer and tinker in Tinkertown! A hands-on STEM exhibition to build your imagination!
After a play in the exhibit, sit down with Scienceworks educators to learn about exhibit themes, curriculum links and education resources.
This professional learning session includes:
- A tour and play in Tinkertown before the museum opens!
- Presentation of Tinkertown themes, storyline and characters
- Review of related Victorian Curriculum Links 2.0
- Review of Tinkertown Design Challenges and Education Resources
- Hands-on engagement with Tinkertown pre-visit class activity
Teachers will be provided
- A tour of the Tinkertown Exhibit and playtime before museum opening hours
- Tinkertown Education Resources for the classroom
- Family pass for the day!
- Includes ticket to Scienceworks and Tinkertown for the professional learning ticket holder plus 1 other adult and up to 3 children

What will my child(ren) do while I’m in the PL?
Your family/ friends are welcome to join you for the tour and play portion of the PL. If you do not have another carer in attendance with you, your children can be with you during the presentation. We will have coloring pages and books available for them.
Do I have to bring my family with me?
No. The Tinkertown tour and exploration is very engaging and useful as an adult and a teacher.
Can my family play in Scienceworks and Tinkertown while I’m in the PL presentation?
Yes. From 9:30-10AM only Tinkertown access is granted as the museum does not open until 10am. After 10am your family (with a carer) is welcome to explore the museum for the rest of the day. Scienceworks is open until 4:30PM
Can I use my family pass on another day?
No. The extra passes (1 adult and 3 children) are only valid on the day of the Professional Learning.
