Design an alien
Teacher notes
- In this activity, students research information about the planets in our Solar System and choose their favourite planet.
- By referring to the specific information about this planet, they write down specific features of their alien that will help them to survive on this chosen planet.
- They will need to think about: how and what their alien will eat, how they will move, how they will communicate, where they will live and how they will protect themselves from the weather conditions on their chosen planet.
- They will need to name and draw their alien, labelling all the special features they have identified.
- They will also make a model of their alien using bits and pieces around the house. (E.g. Lego pieces or other recyclable materials)
- They then choose another planet and think about how the features of their alien would need to change if suddenly their alien had to migrate to this new planet.
- They will then need to sketch and label their new alien with its new features.
