Letters in Lockdown

Letters in Lockdown

This exhibit shows the objects used to communicate with friends during isolation from March to May of 2020. While social media was still in great use, writing and receiving letters in the post evoked a greater feeling of connection, and allowed for much needed reflection.

The desk used was picked up in a hard rubbish collection a couple of years ago and was ideal for sitting at to write letters. It's an old school desk which still has the holes where the ink wells used to be.

The letters in the desk are the ones received from friends over the past 3 months.

The stickers were used to decorate the letters and envelopes, and the pens were used to write the letters.
