Today's hottest fashionistas raid Melbourne Museum's fashion and textiles archive

Melbourne Museum announces exhibition Fashion Redux with Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival.

Fashion and Textiles Store at Moreland.

Melbourne Museum and Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) come together this March to launch Fashion Redux: a brand new collaborative fashion exhibition, where Melbourne fashion names have brought out and reimagined items from the museum's vast and fascinating collection.

Fashion Redux will present an exciting fusion of styles from the past and present, created in collaboration with Melbourne's leading fashion identities and Museums Victoria's fashion archives.

Access to the fashion and textiles archives was granted to fashion design duo Alpha60, fashion entrepreneurs How Two Live, stylist Kate Gaskin, jewellery designer Kristy Dickinson, costume designer Marion Boyce, fashion designer Nixi Killick, stylist Ntombi Moyo, milliner Melissa Jackson and couture house J'Aton.

In tribute to the city's history of innovation and opulence, the results create a contemporary snapshot of how styles from the past can be reinterpreted to become part of the Now.

Courtesy of VAMFF's Fashion Film Award, visitors will also be treated to screenings of this year's award-winning selections, including new works from up-and-coming and established filmmakers working with Prada, Gucci and local Melbourne designers.

The launch of Fashion Redux will fall on the same night as the next Nocturnal event, blending culture with couture with performances from The Avalanches (DJ Set), Kaiit, Chela, Chunky Move and bebé.
