Experience the power of poetry at A Voz Limpia’s next reading event, where diverse voices share stories full of passion and depth. An evening of spoken word, culture, and connection awaits.
A Voz Limpia is a community of writers and musicians that was started in March 2016 in Melbourne. Initially, it was only local Spanish-speaking artists that participated but with time, it opened for artists working with other languages such as English, Creole, French, Italian and others and from other countries that connected remotely. A recurrent theme for the artists is the migration experience and its impacts.
The A Voz Limpia community meets monthly with an open-mike format providing writers and musicians the opportunity to share their original works. The events are open and free of charge. Its funds its activities by selling its books.
Since 2016, A Voz Limpia has published nine yearly anthologies of original works by the participants. It has also published works in Spanish by Luis Escudero, Gracia de las Nieves, Abe Dunovits, Daniel Sacchero y Alejandro del Castillo. It published works in English and Foliaje, a bilingual (English and Spanish) anthology of poetry and short stories.
This event is presented in collaboration with City of Melbourne
