Sharing Immigration Stories

A museum presentation for Primary School students in regional Victoria.

This hands-on, inquiry-based history/humanities program will have students working in groups and handling reproduction artefacts from Museums Victoria's Collection – letters, photo albums, diaries, cassette tapes, tapestries, SMS text messages – objects that have been created by individuals to record their personal migration journeys to Victoria.

They will discover a range of different migration stories through investigating these objects and learn how people have shared their migration stories over time. They will also uncover changes in communications technology and how the process of human communication has evolved.
