Abstract

Twelve new species of Pycnogonida belonging to the genera Nymphon (2 species), Anoplodactylus (1 species), Endeis (1 species), Callipallene (1 species), Parapallene (1 species) and Pallenella (6 species) are described from the collections of the South Australian Museum. Of the nine species of Pallenella recorded here, six are new to science. All species assigned to the genus Pallenella are reviewed and an updated key to species is presented. For the first time, eight eye lenses are recorded in the genus. Previously described species are discussed, and images of selected type material are provided.
