Abstract

Paralamprops is a small genus in the cumacean family Lampropidae. A new species, Paralamprops poorei sp. nov. is described from the southern Australian continental slope. Paralamprops poorei can be distinguished from all other Paralamprops by the combination of a toothed marginal carina, subequal antennular fl agellae, maxillule without palp, pereopods 3 and 4 in the female with rudimentary exopods, pereopod 5 with article proportions as in pereopods 3 and 4, telson with 5 lateral setae and 3 equal terminal setae, and the male with three pairs of pleopods.
