The European Wasp is easily identified by its lemon-yellow banding against a black body. In addition, the wasp does not look hairy.

Being a social insect, there are different forms of the European wasp. All forms have similar colour markings but differ in size:

  • The worker wasp is the most common form and measures between 10-15mm in body length.
  • The Queen and Male forms are larger wasps measuring up to 20mm.
