Take a trip back with us to the golden age of 90s sci-fi, with a special Lighting Room screening of cult classic Gattaca, presented in partnership with Melbourne Science Gallery.
Starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Jude Law, Gattaca delves into questions of genetic engineering and what it really means to be 'perfect'. The power of genetic engineering is great when it comes to eradicating diseases, but what about its cosmetic application? Where is the ethical line, and how do we know when we’ve crossed it?
This screening event will include an introductory talk by a special guest speaker and an exploration of electrical engineering in the Lighting Room, as well as time on the Arena searching for Saturn's Moon Titan, inspired by Gattaca's main character Vincent Morrow.
