Discover the science behind bridge construction this spring holidays at Scienceworks. With a free hands-on bridge building activity, an engaging amphitheatre show about the science of structures and a construction-themed play area for younger visitors, this holiday program has something for every budding engineer!
Try our bridge building challenge in our free daily activity, and construct a bridge model using different craft materials. Test its strength and stability in different ground sediments and discover how engineers solve construction problems in everyday life.
Suitable for ages 6+.
Discover more about bridge engineering in our free amphitheatre show! Come to terms with concepts such as force, tension and compression to explore the geometry of bridges and the science of building materials.
Suitable for all ages.
Test your knowledge as a young engineer by experimenting with our construction play equipment. Dress up as an engineer in personal protective equipment as you explore, play and build!
Suitable for ages 5 and below.
Families will also have the opportunity to learn about the Western Roads Upgrade that’s currently underway. An interactive touch screen, along with team members from Major Road Projects Victoria, will be on hand to answer any questions.
The project is upgrading eight main roads in Melbourne’s west and improving and maintaining more than 260km of road from Footscray to Werribee.
