Join us at the Melbourne Planetarium for an exclusive evening of stories, passion, and inspiration from two travellers who have ventured into space.
Astronomer Dr Tanya Hill will be in conversation with Astronaut Dominic 'Tony' Antonelli and Cosmonaut Dumitru Dorin Prunariu. Tony and Dumitru will share their unique experience and perspective from living and working in space.
Following their conversation with Tanya, you will have a chance to personally meet Tony and Dumitru while enjoying delicious canapes and drinks.
End your evening by taking a seat in the Melbourne Planetarium for your own journey to the stars – fly off the earth and beyond the solar system to the far reaches of our vast and incredible universe.
Canapes and drinks included.

Tony Antonelli is a veteran of two space flights. His first mission was as the pilot of STS-119 aboard Space Shuttle Discovery in March 2009, which delivered the final solar array wings to the International Space Station (ISS). Tony’s second flight was as pilot of STS-132 Atlantis in May 2010, which delivered a Russian Mini-Research module to the ISS.
While serving at NASA, Tony’s leadership roles within the Astronaut Office included the Space Launch System, Commercial Crew, Capsule Communicator (CAPCOM), and Space Shuttle Propulsion.
Dumitru Prunariu was elected for spaceflight training in 1978 as a part of the Intercosmos Program. In May 1981, Dumitru and Russian cosmonaut Leonid Popov completed an eight-day space mission on board Soyuz 40 and the Salyut 6 space laboratory where they completed scientific experiments in the fields of astrophysics, space radiation, space technology, space medicine and biology.
Since 1978 Dumitru was an active officer of the Romanian Air Force. In 1985 Prunariu joined, as one of the founding members, the Association of Space Explorers (ASE) and has held positions as the president of ASE Europe and ASE International.
Dr Tanya Hill is Senior Curator of Astronomy at Museums Victoria. She develops new astronomy productions for the Melbourne Planetarium and creates opportunities for the general public to find out about astronomical events and discoveries. Tanya obtained her PhD from University of Sydney in 2002, where she studied active galaxies, and is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Melbourne. She writes an astronomy column for the Conversation called 'Look Up'.
