WeSTEM
A partnership with Catholic Education
In 2020, the success of WeSTEM will be taken to Catholic Education Melbourne’s Northern Region, with a new iteration of our partnership, STEMworks.
Read stories of practice from WeSTEM on the Scienceworks STEM blog.
WeSTEM is a partnership between Museums Victoria and the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria, established to connect and empower Western Region schools in the teaching of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
WeSTEM 1.0, in 2016-2017, supported teachers in Catholic Schools in the Western Region to adopt project-based STEM and begin the new digital technologies curriculum. To see a list of all the 1.0 projects, download the summary PDF at the bottom of this page.
WeSTEM 2.0, in 2018-2019, delivered professional learning for teachers and built student capacity for leadership and agency in their own learning. Schools received support in planning and delivering long-term STEM projects integrating Victorian Curriculum areas such as Digital Technologies, Design and Technologies, Mathematics, Science as well as cross-curricular capabilities including Critical and Creative Thinking.
Scienceworks supports schools with:
- Professional learning at Scienceworks
- Support to initiate and develop your own STEM projects with your students
- Support to develop student leadership in STEM
- Community of practice to share your STEM journey with and provide support - both online and in person at meetings and PDs
