First Peoples Women, Creative Practice and the Museum

What is the significance of Female First Peoples art and the collections at Museums Victoria? How have community worked with collections and what can be the future in this space?

In honour of 2018 NAIDOC theme Because Of Her We Can this lecture will highlight key works in the collection by female First Peoples community and the role art and creative cultural practice play within the museum space. Presented by Senior Curator South Eastern First Peoples Collections Kimberley Moulton.

Speaker: Kimberley Moulton is a Yorta Yorta Woman and Senior Curator of South Eastern First Peoples Collections. Kimberley’s work focus includes collaboration and research with historical Ancestral belongings and living cultural makers  and South Eastern Aboriginal Culture and the intersection of contemporary art and culture within the museum.
