Summer school holiday activities at Melbourne Museum.
Hello Possums Story Time
Storytellers will bring books to life in this program specially developed for children 0–5 years and their carers.
Make your own Christmas cards
Melbourne Museum is offering all visitors the chance to make their own Myers Christmas Windows cards in the lead up to Christmas.
Choose from two designs to decorate. Yours to keep or send to friends and family.
Generously supported by the Museum Members Program. Suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Making Window Magic
People have been lining up in Melbourne’s central Bourke Street to peer into the Myer’s Christmas windows since 1956.
Bringing popular stories to life, the windows have featured puppetry, lighting, mechanisation and all the art of window dressing. Many a Melbournian (and beyond!) have embarked on the adventure of visiting the windows to see what delights they have in store. Some do so every year. This year you have a chance to make your own window to take home.
Suitable for ages 5 to 12 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring your seasonal paper ‘trash’ to the museum and make an amazing puppet from it. The trash puppets are a team who can help you make the most of all those bits and pieces of paper, ribbon, string and everything else you may have left over from your festivities. Don’t worry if you have already thrown everything away – The Trash Puppets will have plenty of other clean rubbish for you to use.
Above, Below and Beyond: Metro Tunnels
What will Melbourne look like in the future?
Train stations have been named and you can see the construction works happening around town, but there’s so much more to know and discover about Melbourne’s major project to upgrade our train travel.
Join us to create your place in Melbourne’s Metro Tunnel. We’ll have a giant decal along the Galleria glass which will show Melbourne above and below ground.
You can colour and add your pieces to the huge puzzle of transporting everyone around, while giant tunneling machinery burrows under our city to make the new tunnels.
Where will you be? Anzac, Town Hall, State Library, Parkville or North Melbourne? Or will you travel to all of them?
