Explore Viking life at Melbourne Museum this autumn school holidays.
How did the Vikings really live? What did they make, eat and trade? How did they fight and play? Why not come and be a Viking yourself.
Join Melbourne’s own recreation groups the New Varangian Guard, Joms Vikings and Wessex, who will be living at Melbourne Museum for the second week of the school holidays.
They’ll bring to life diverse aspects of the Vikings. You’ll see Vikings costumes, tents, furs, pottery, cooking, games, blacksmithing, textiles, spinning, knitting, weaving and much more.

Art of the Viking
In this free activity we invite you to create your own masterpiece and explore the art of the Vikings.
In the age of Vikings, Norse people developed intricate and ornate styles of art across a range of materials. From the longship dragon heads to everyday objects, great care was taken to incorporate decoration and design in all aspects of society.
This Autumn we'll explore the different styles of Viking art and make a piece of wearable art to show off at home.
