November Nocturnal brings Lanks, CLYPSO, Adult.Films & DJ Susan to the party
Friday 2 November. Tickets on sale now.
Nocturnal will usher in the end of exams and the beginning of warmer times with a delectable, dancey November instalment. Blow off some steam at Melbourne Museum on Friday 2 November.
Lanks is a true electropop force that just keeps on building. With two recent sold out Melbourne shows and brand new LP twentyseven under his belt, multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Will Cuming will deliver one of this summer's most inspired live shows. Infectious, luscious melodies and bombastic percussion will have you swaying in the dark.
Clypso is a multicoloured, maximum-fun dream of a performer. Fresh from some smashing performances at BIGSOUND 2018, you'll be able to dunk yourself in her jungle-infused troptronica, and glitchy afro-punk vibes. It's wild stuff.
Alt r'n'b outfit Adult.Films have been making Melbourne feel smooth things with their debut EP Faux.Real. Don't miss their visceral, dynamic sounds that challenge the conventional, and delve into the human psyche.
DJ Susan (the amazing Becky Sui Zhen) will be setting the scene between sets, with drinks and snacks and experiential elements throughout Melbourne Museum's cavernous, spectacularly lit entrance hall. Broadsheet called Nocturnal "one of the city's best music venues."
You can also nourish your brain with talks themed around palaeontology. Do not miss Dr Lindsay Zanno, Head of Paleontology at North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, in her only public event in Australia. She'll be sharing incredible stories n the Museum Theatre, with combined lecture and Nocturnal tickets available here.
Melbourne Museum's famed palaeontology department will also be talkin' fossils with Transparent Fossils: using modern scanning technology to see inside fossils. Gemma Steele and Hayley Webster from the museum library will talk about the birth of Victorian palaeontology in Sir Frederick McCoy: pioneering palaeontologist. Sir Frederick was also the museum's first director, so the museum has had experts on this stuff for a very long time.
While you're soaking up the vibes, take a turn around the Melbourne Story gallery and say g'day to Phar Lap. Converse amongst the overwhelming WILD gallery, or seek knowledge in the First Peoples gallery. For Country, for Nation will educate with art and objects about the contribution of Australian First Peoples military service.
Dancing. And dinosaurs. Do it. Tickets on sale now.
