Our Members Masterclass series is back!

Koi is considered the king of fresh water, often depicted swimming up a waterfall. The koi symbolizes life advancement and success as well as strength, courage and endurance.

To celebrate the closing weekend of Perseverance: Japanese Tattoo Tradition in a Modern World join us for an intimate workshop with local Japanese artist Junko Azukawa.

In the workshop you will prepare your own ink, learn how to apply different Sumi ink tones and master traditional brush techniques to create your own Japanese ink painting (Sumi-e) on Washi paper made from the mulberry tree. You’ll end the morning with your very own king of the fresh water - a beautifully painted Koi fish artwork to take home.

Suitable for ages 7 and over. Participating child must be accompanied by an adult.
