What's On

Join us in honouring Cuc Lam.

We invite you to celebrate Cuc Lam’s recent appointment as Mayor of Maribyrnong with a rare opportunity to view Cuc’s iconic red suitcase, a treasured part of the Museums Victoria’s collection, that will be on display as part of International Migrant’s Day on 18 December.

Cuc has described her refugee experience (fleeing Vietnam in 1978) as the motivation for helping people and supporting people in need. Her life and achievements continue to be an inspiration to the wider Victorian community and we are excited to celebrate this recent achievement with Cuc, a long time friend of the Immigration Museum.

In conversation

As part of International Migrants Day celebrations at the Immigration Museum on 18 December 2017, we held a public event to acknowledge the appointment of Cr Cuc Lam as Mayor of the City of Maribyrnong.

Cuc, who arrived in Melbourne as a refugee from Vietnam in 1978, was welcomed by Rohini Kappadath, the Immigration Museum’s General Manager. This was followed by an 'In Conversation' session with Cuc and Dr Moya McFadzean, Senior Curator, Migration & Cultural Diversity at Museums Victoria.
