This self-directed excursion program includes an introduction by an Immigration Museum staff member. The Drama and Cultural Diversity unit resources are available to download.

After visiting the Immigration Museum students can participate in classroom dramatic activities through connecting to the physical, emotional and intellectual content of immigration stories.

Through research and adaptation, students can improvise a creative storyline based on historical truth and develop an understanding of the conflicts and difficulties inherent in making a journey to Australia as an immigrant.

Program units have been designed for secondary students:

  • the Leavings unit has been designed for Year 7
  • New World New Life for Years 8–9
  • Getting In for Years 11–12
