Range up to 120mm in length in Australia, but most are 20-30mm. Eight legs and two body divisions. Large pedipalps have powerful pincers. Long tail has a sting and is arched over the body when active. Found in forest and desert habitats, in leaf litter, under logs and in shallow burrows. Eat beetles, cockroaches, centipedes, millipedes and spiders. Predators include lizards, birds, other scorpions and some mammals.
