Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Museums Victoria will temporarily close all public sites

15 March 2020

Museums Victoria will temporarily close all public sites, including Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks, Immigration Museum, Royal Exhibition Building and IMAX, as of Monday, March 16.

The safety and well-being of our visitors, staff, volunteers and the community is our top priority. We are taking these steps as a public health precaution in support of measures to contain COVID-19, especially for those in our community who are most vulnerable. We are committed to providing support for all of our employees and volunteers and to protecting our community during these unprecedented and challenging times.

Due to the rapidly changing nature of the situation, we will not announce a reopening date at this time but will be providing regular updates here on our website and on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

We will continue to closely monitor advice from the Victorian Government and the Victorian Chief Health Officer and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Our doors may be closed but our hearts and minds remain open and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Wishing you good health.
